Does Supporting I.T. offer virtual web hosting?

Yes. Virtual hosting is provided by most internet hosts, and is where you share the server, transparently, with a number of other users. Dedicated hosting is where only you inhabit the server, but you have to have a lot of website traffic to justify a dedicated server.

What kind of servers do you offer? (NT, Linux or UNIX)

We mainly use Linux servers, and we can arrange Windows NT or Solaris servers.

Does Supporting I.T. support Microsoft Access, ASP and MSSQL (MS Sequel)?

No. These are NT applications for an NT server. We only offer this on Windows servers so we do not support these applications on our standard plans. Call us to discuss what you need.

What is Bandwidth?

Just to make it confusing, there is more than one meaning to the word. To keep it simple we will explain its meaning as used on this site. Bandwidth is the measure of how much data your site can send to people over the internet. This is generally measured by the month.

What do I need to be able to use Supporting I.T.'s services?

All you need is access to the Internet and the desire to have your own web site.

Does Supporting I.T. offer web site design services?

Yes, although we mainly utilise templates in-house. We do have a web designer you can use though, and she is pretty damn good!.

Does Supporting I.T. offer any database solutions?

We offer MySql with a PHPmyAdmin web based control panel on our standard Linux packages.

Does Supporting I.T. allow cronjobs?

Yes but for performance reasons all cronjobs must first be approved by our Technical Support Team (usually within 24 hours).

Does Supporting I.T. support third level domains (somename.myname.com)?

Yes. Although it depends on your hosting package as to whether you get them in the package. Also known as sub-domains.

Does Supporting I.T. accept International orders?

Yes. We accept payment via PayPal for this, but be aware there may be a delay in setting up your account to prevent Fraud.

How long will it take to setup my account?

Accounts are setup 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If ordering by credit card most orders are usually setup within a few hours from the time the order is received. All server information will be sent to the email address provided in the order unless noted otherwise. (Please note, we are only accepting PayPal at the minute)

What is Supporting I.T.'s terms of service policy?

Which service plans include E-commerce features & capabilities?

All our web hosting packages include E-commerce features, but we would point you towards the eCommerce package as it has more bandwidth.

Does Supporting I.T. support MS FrontPage?

Yes we support MS FrontPage extensions for the 98, 2000 and 2002 versions of FrontPage.

Does Supporting I.T. offer Telnet services?

Not as standard no, we prefer you to use cPanel, which should provide you with all the control you need.

How do I know how much data transfer I need?

Generally most small to medium size business web sites will not need anymore than 2-3 gigs of data transfer a month. If you ever do go over your limit our Technical Support Team will contact you via email with the option to upgrade or purchase more bandwidth.

Does Supporting I.T. allow "warez" web sites?

No. This is stated in our Terms of Service policy.

Will Supporting I.T. allow an adult web site?

Not on the shared hosting plans we offer as standard, it would have to be a dedicated server. This would only cover educational adult sites rather than recreational adult sites.

Can I run a message board on my web hosting server?

Yes. All hosting plans come with a message board system available.

Can I install my own message board system?

Yes. You can install your own message board system such as UBB.

Does Supporting I.T. offer dial-up access to the Internet?

No, but we can set you up with one from Tiscali or Telewest, dialup or broadband.
